3242873 - Restoring deleted dictionary entries

Symptom

If a dictionary entry is deleted is there some way of restoring it?

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Resolution

There is a way to restore a deleted entry from the dictionary by recreating the same entry. A direct recovery via a "button" does not exist. If there is still a task in a diagram that contains the dictionary entry, you can open it and "copy" the content so that you can recreate the same entry with the same content. Afterwards, the entry in the old task must be linked to the dictionary entry again. This is possible as shown in the screenshot below.

Hint:

If you no longer know the name of the deleted attribute, you may find it in an old process documentation as an expression or in an old report about processes.
