3243485 - Testing SSO access with Azure AD, error "saml.2exception - No mail address given, authentication unsuccessful" is received

We recently switched single sign-on authentication methods to Azure AD (Setting up single sign-on for your workspace). In testing SSO access, we receive the error "saml.2exception - No mail address given, authentication unsuccessful".
