Symptom
When creating a Shopping Cart the same is skipping approval even though the Approval Process activated and consistent.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Home work center.
- Go to Self-Services Overview view.
- Click Go Shopping (Advanced).
- In Recipient under Ship-To enter the user responsible for approval.
- Click Next until step 3.
- Enter the product information (make sure that the information added is relevant for approval).
- Click Show Approval Details
See that the person responsible is the same as the recipient.
- Click Check button.
- Click Finish if no errors were displayed.
See the message "Shopping cart created and requested".
Cause
It is no longer possible for a user to approve their own carts.
So please check which is the user that is the Approver of the Shopping Cart. In case the Approver is the same user as in the 'Recipient', the 'Requester' or the 'Creator' of the Shopping Cart, the system will skip the approval process and create automatically the Purchase Request.
Resolution
This is a system behavior.
In case you want to change this, please follow one of the solutions below:
- Make sure that the approver is not the Requestor, Recipient or the Creator of the shopping cart;
- Maintain other approvers determined so the task can still be processed by them (via the configuration of multiple responsible or substitution rule setup);
- Remove the 'Automatic Approval' flag. It will ensure that at least approval is not skipped but that at least an unassigned task is created in the case where no additional approver can be found.
