You want to migrate data to SAP S/4HANA by using the staging tables functionality of the SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit. In order to do this, you must first establish a database connection for the SAP S/4HANA cloud system to the database where the staging tables are located (note that this database must be located on the SAP Business Technology Platform say, SAP HANA Cloud). Therefore, you must activate a specific communication scenario, Migration Cockpit Integration (SAP_COM_0678).
However, in SAP HANA Cloud database instances are exposed via secure end points to the public Internet. By default, all access to SAP HANA database instances is denied. Connections are protected using TLS/SSL and access can be restricted using source IP allow lists. The IP addresses of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud instance must be included in the allow-list of the SAP HANA Cloud instance, otherwise SAP HANA Cloud will refuse any connection from SAP S/4HANA Cloud.
Due to security concerns, you do not want to “Allow all IP addresses” instead “Allow specific IP addresses and IP ranges (in addition to BTP)”
