Symptom
When editing a Job Information field through History UI, Centralized Services comes with the following benefits:
"Event based date fields (Hire Date, Termination Date, Leave of Absence Start Date, Leave of Absence End Date) and entry date fields (Position Entry Date, Company Entry Date, Location Entry Date, Job Entry Date, Department Entry Date, Pay Scale Level Entry Date) in Job Information will always be calculated by the system. This will overwrite any value provided by the user, including values derived by business rules."
However, when trying to edit a field such as Position Entry Date via MSS (Take Action > Change Job and Compensation Info), the Centralized Services validation does not occur.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFators HXM Suite
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Job Information History UI
- Try to edit an entry date field (e.g. Position Entry Date
- The field is not updated in the new history record if changed through the History UI
- Go to Take Action > Change Job and Compensation Info
- Edit the same field
- The change is successful
Cause
This is expected behavior as per Centralized Services functionalities.
Resolution
Centralized services is an umbrella term for a collection of specialized services governing different processes in Employee Central. Currently, Centralized Services only supports changes performed via Imports, Save Action on History UI and Save Action on Editing UI. Changes performed via MSS are not under the CS validation scope.
