3246232 - Event Based Date and Entry Date fields in Job Information are not affected by Centralized Services when editing via MSS

Symptom

When editing a Job Information field through History UI, Centralized Services comes with the following benefits:

"Event based date fields (Hire Date, Termination Date, Leave of Absence Start Date, Leave of Absence End Date) and entry date fields (Position Entry Date, Company Entry Date, Location Entry Date, Job Entry Date, Department Entry Date, Pay Scale Level Entry Date) in Job Information will always be calculated by the system. This will overwrite any value provided by the user, including values derived by business rules."

However, when trying to edit a field such as Position Entry Date via MSS (Take Action > Change Job and Compensation Info), the Centralized Services validation does not occur, only if the following setting is disabled in Company System and Logo Settings:
Enable Centralized Services to Save Changes on the Manager Self-Service UI for Change Job and Compensation Info.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFators HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Job Information History UI
  2. Try to edit an entry date field (e.g. Position Entry Date
  3. The field is not updated in the new history record if changed through the History UI
  4. Go to Take Action > Change Job and Compensation Info
  5. Edit the same field
  6. The change is successful

Resolution

This is expected behavior if you are not using "Enable Centralized Services to Save Changes on the Manager Self-Service UI for Change Job and Compensation Info."

If  "Enable Centralized Services to Save Changes on the Manager Self-Service UI for Change Job and Compensation Info." is enabled then the behaviour is as follows:

"Event based date fields (Hire Date, Termination Date, Leave of Absence Start Date, Leave of Absence End Date) and entry date fields (Position Entry Date, Company Entry Date, Location Entry Date, Job Entry Date, Department Entry Date, Pay Scale Level Entry Date) in Job Information will always be calculated by the system. This will overwrite any value provided by the user, including values derived by business rules."

Please Note: "Enable Centralized Services to Save Changes on the Manager Self-Service UI for Change Job and Compensation Info." is planned to be universally enabled from the 2H 2023 Release.
