3248490 - You are Not Able to Copy the Product Item from Contract to Service Order

You have created a contract in the system, when trying to creating a new service order out of the contract, you find the product item in the contract is not copied into service order, and you get following warning message:

1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
2. Go to the Contracts view.
3. Open contract ABC, in Itemts tab, you can see line 10 is a material with item type: Product - Contract. (ABC represents the ID of the contract)
4. Click follow up - service order. 
5. In the new service order, the product item line is not copied and you get warning at the bottom.

The materials in contract has to be consumed via sales order ( item type : Product - Contract ) , it is not allowed to be consumed in a service order, hence the material line is not copied.

To consume materials in service scenarios we have entitlement item types in Contracts where materials can be added as "Entitled Product". This also however will not be copied automatically on a follow up. This material item also will have to be added manually in the service order and then assignments to contract item can be done on the service order item.

This is the current system design.
