3249523 - Microsoft VBScript compilation error "Cannot use parentheses when calling a Sub" when event script is created with NwEngine.Shell.SetRegValue method

Symptom

  • An event script with NwEngine.Shell.SetRegValue method is created for a single-file self-installing .exe-SAP GUI package in the SAP Installation Server (More info in the KBA 2283891) or during package event scripts installation from different installation servers;
  • The following error appear (but may not be limited to) in the NwSapSetup.log after installing  the package: Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Error message: Unknown error 0x800A0414. Error code 0x800a0414. Cannot use parentheses when calling a Sub (Line 2, Col. 135);
