3253981 - An error occurs when creating a model from a SharePoint Data Source

Symptom

The following error occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) when creating a model from SharePoint Data Source:

  • An error occurred while parsing service metadata: undefined

In the browser developer tools HTTP archive (HAR) file trace:

Environment

SAP Analytics Cloud 2022.15.15

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create an Import Connection to SharePoint by Open Connectors
  2. Go to Modeler and choose Create New model From a Data Source 
  3. Select Open Connector under Categories and SharePoint as a Data Source
  4. Choose the connection created and click Next
    Error: An error occurred while parsing service metadata: undefined

Cause

The issue occurs due to the Default Language and Display Language settings of the SharePoint site.

Resolution

  • It is now possible to import/acquire data from a non-english sharepoint site.  The instructions can be found in kbase 3425004
