3255503 - DBCC CHECKSTORAGE hangs on archive database - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • After loading a compressed database dump onto an archive database and running dbcc checkstorage against it, the command hangs
  • Using parallelism
  • dbcc stacktrace (<checkstorage_spid>) reports the following calls :
    upsleepgeneric
    uwrecv  
    pchk_pt_wait
    pchk_pt_do_check
    checkstorage
    exec_dbcc
    s_execute  
  • Command still hangs if disabling parallelism 
  • dbcc stacktrace (<checkstorage_worker_process>) reports the following calls:
    upsleepgeneric     
    uballocw            
    pchk_allocate_compression_buffers
    pchk_wt_main             
    kw_exec                  
    kw_member
