3259131 - Approval Process steps sorting in the Sales Order is not as expected.

Symptom

You have defined a approval process with more than 10 steps and when you submit the sales order for approval and check Approval Process tab, you can see that the steps sorting is not as expected.

Reproducing the Issue

Prerequisite: You have created a multi-step approval process for sales order with more than 10 steps.

  1. Go to Sales Orders Work center
  2. Go to Sales Orders View
  3. Search for Sales Order XXX( XXX is the ID of the Sales Order which is submitted for approval).
  4. Select the Sales Order and click on Edit button
  5. Click on View all button and navigate to Approval Process tab
  6. You can see that the steps are sorted in the sequence 1,10,11,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 instead of the sequence 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11.

Cause

The String Displayed is a combination of  Step: Step number
This is because it is a concatenated column and sorting is done alphabetically instead of numeric. 

This is a generic behavior across all CRM documents which use this reuse UI component and since this is a UI sort and we cannot control this.

Resolution

This is expected system behavior.
