Symptom
A warranty for a certain product category exists in the system.
You create a new serial number for a product in the product category when posting goods issue for Sales Order.
However, the registered product is generated without automatically assigning the relevant warranty after outbound delivery is released.
Environment
SAP Business Bydesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Outbound Logistics Work Center.
- Navigate to Outbound Deliveries view.
- Open the Outbound Delivery ABC.
- Go to the Line Items tab.
- Select the product XYZ.
- Under Serial Numbers sub-tab.
- Open on the desired serial.
- See that the Warranty Assignment section is empty.
Cause
In Product Master under Sales tab, no warranty data maintained for Sales Org XXX, Distribution Channel YYY.
Resolution
Prerequisites: Automatic Warranty Assignment is not scoped for Outbound Delivery Processes in Business Configuration.

To maintain warranty data, follow the steps below:
- Open master data of product.
- Navigate to Sales Tab.
- Select the combination of Sale Org and Distribution Channel corresponding to the sales order.
- Navigate to Warranty Subtab.
- Add Warranty.
- Save.
