3259696 - Operation Not Possible Confirmed Inbound Delivery Must be Released

You have created a Stock Transfer Order to ship some Goods from one of your externally managed Locations to another externally managed Location within the same company. However, the Items have become damaged or lost in Transit and so you are now trying to perform 'Adjust In-Transit Stock to Zero' against the Outbound Delivery. If you try to adjust the quantity to zero, the system is showing the error: Operation not possible; confirmed inbound delivery must be released.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Navigate to the Third-Party Logistics work center. 
2. Go to Common Tasks and select 'Adjust In-Transit Stock'. 
3. Filter and select the row with the relevant Outbound Delivery ID.
4. Click 'Adjust In-Transit Stock to Zero'.
5. Click OK (select the relevant Cost Center ID if relevant).
6. The system returns the error message: Operation not possible; confirmed inbound delivery must be released. 

You have not created the Inbound Delivery against the Outbound Delivery at the receiving Site.

Please follow the below steps to resolve the issue:

1. Navigate to the Third-Party Logistics work center.
2. Go to Inbound Delivery Notifications view.
3. Find and select the Inbound Delivery Notification ID related to the relevant Outbound Delivery.
4. Click New Inbound Delivery.
5. Enter all mandatory and relevant details.
6. Maintain the Actual Quantity of zero.
7. Click Save.
8. Click Release.

You should now be able to do 'Adjust In-Transit Stock to Zero' against the Outbound Delivery without an issue.

Note: If the receiving Site is an internally managed location, you will have to proceed to the normal Inbound Logistics work center and confirm the receipt with Missing Part. Also, you have to accept the deviation for you to be able to perform the 'Adjust In-Transit Stock to Zero'.
