Symptom

When trying to change the Recognition Key in app "Event-Based Revenue Recognition - Projects" you receive errors:

  • Update of Revenue recognition key to master data failed
  • An exception was raised

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open app "Event-Based Revenue Recognition - Projects"
  2. Enter your selection criteria
  3. Go to the Details of a Billing Element
  4. Click More (3 dots) -> Change Recognition Key
  5. Enter a new Recognition Key
  6. Receive errors:
  • Update of Revenue recognition key to master data failed
  • An exception was raised

Cause

A Draft version of the project (to which the Billing Element belongs) exists. This causes a lock on the project which prevents the Recognition Key being changed.

Resolution

Save or Discard the Draft version of the project in app "Project Control".
