3263420 - Unable to Replicate Employee from SuccessFactors due to Error "Employee assignment not possible"

Error "Employee assignment not possible" is occuring when trying to replicate an employee from SuccessFactors to Business ByDesign.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Master Data Replication Work Center.
2. Enter the Employees view.
3. Search for the employee request to be replicated and click Edit.
4. Click the Replicate Button.
5. Once the replication is processed, the error message appears.

This could be caused because a record already exists in the database for the employee when he/she was hired initially in SuccessFactors system and it is not possible to have two employees with the same employee ID in the Business ByDesign system. There is no such provision in the ByD system where we could delete the existing employment and replace it with a new one. 

The only way possible is termination and rehire instead.

Hence in this regard we would like to suggest you with the following options to clean and make the data consistent.

1. Delete/Terminate the employment of the Employee in the Successfactor System and create a new employment with a new employee ID and Remote Business partner ID.
2. Once the employment is created with a new employee ID we would be able to process the request at the ByD side.
3. Regarding the employment which is created in the ByD system at present for the Employee we can support to terminate the employee with hire data = termination date . This way the employee will be inactive in the system.
