3267961 - "BAPI returned message" error occurs while reading/writing BW - SAP Cloud Integration for Data Services

Symptom

  • The following error appears in the error log of CI-DS task/process while reading/writing BW datastore:
    BAPI returned message <RFC_ABAP_EXCEPTION-(Exception_Key: READ_FAILURE, Cannot use function module <system ID>CLNT<client> for type 3)[SAP NWRFC 777][SAP Partner 750 ][<system ID>][<application server>][<user name>][4103]> from method <DEST_RFC_TCPIP_READ>.
  • Authorization issues with extractors/BAPIs when trying to connect to BW from CI-DS.
  • After providing SAP_ALL to the user in the BW system extractions does not work in CI-DS.
