3269609 - Error " Comments were not loaded" when opening a story in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

The following behavior occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC):

• Error message "Comments were not loaded. Try Again. If this issue persists then contact SAP support".
• This issue may happen even when you don't have data point comments or story comments.

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2022.15.15

1. Open a story.

The issue occurs due to the Data Access Control applied on one dimension.
This dimension contains a huge number of members and READ WRITE access with a huge number of members of the dimension has been given to some users/teams.

Commenting does not work when Read Write permissions are given for more than 60K dimension members.

1. Disable Data access if it is not required.
   If required, assign read write permissions to only those members where it is needed.
2. If Data access is still required and needed on all members of Dimension
   
   1. Could you try using role based security instead of Data Access? You can try giving full Access to the model or Limited access on all members (*) of the model at the role level.
   2. Assign this role to the user or team
3. If this story doe not have any comment, you can disable the Allow Data Point Comments option so the commenting service won't be triggered. Please see Adding Comments to a Data Cell for details.
