Symptom
You perform depreciation for a fixed asset. You notice that in some periods the depreciation amount is different and in some periods there is no depreciation.

Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
- Go to the Fixed Assets view.
- Select the Fixed Asset ABC (ABC is the fixed asset ID).
- Click Edit.
- Navigate to the Valuation tab and then to the Depreciation Overview subtab.
For some periods the depreciation amount is different and for some depreciation is missing.
Cause
Rounding rule is activated for Fixed Assets Valuation Views in the Business Configuration.
You can check this as follows.
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to the Overview view.
- Select the Set of Books activity.
- Select the relevant Set of Book used in the Fixed Asset ABC.
- Click Edit.
- Navigate to the Fixed Asset Settings tab.
Note down the Valuation View IDs.
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Go to the Overview view.
- Select the Fixed Assets Valuation View activity.
- Select the relevant Valuation View ID.
- Navigate to the Rounding Rules tab.
Base Value for Rounding Value is for example maintained as Depreciation or Net Book Value.
Rounding rule is Arithmetic Rounding.
Resolution
You need to change the Base Value for Rounding Value to No Rounding and Rounding Rule to Rounding Deactivated.
After that schedule a recalculation run for the fixed assets as follows:
- Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
- Go to the Depreciation view.
- Click the New button and then Fixed Asset Depreciation Run.
- Enter Run Description.
- Uncheck the Test run box.
- Enter the relevant Company.
- Select the relevant Closing step.
- Enter the Period 999/9999.
