3270774 - Error "Quantity type LENGTH not valid; it must be a characteristic quantity type" while Updating UOM Characteristics of Materials using Mass Data Maintenance

You are trying to update the UOM Characteristics of Materials using the Mass Data Maintenance, however you get the error as "Quantity type LENGTH not valid; it must be a characteristic quantity type".

 SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Mass Data Maintenance work center
2. Upload the updated .csv file
3. Click on Validate Data "Data Validation finished successfully. No Invalid data found"
4. When you click on Execute Data Import, it throws the errors as "Quantity type LENGTH not valid; it must be a characteristic quantity type" as shown below:

Quantity Type Characteristics for the dimensions are as follows:

Length - dimensional length

Width - breadth

Hight - height

In your csv file instead of dimnsional length you could have maintaed it as length, due to this the error message is displayed.

Request you to correct the Quantity Type Characteristics from Length/length to dimensional length.

FYI:

To verify and to see which Quantity Type Characteristics is correct you can follow the below steps:

1. Go to Product Portfolio work center
2. Open By Materials under Products view
3. Select 1 Material ex: "ABC"
4. Click on Edit the "ABC" Material
5. Click on View All
6. Navigate to the UOM Characteristics tab under General tab
7. Enter the desired Value for Length, Width & Hight and measures accordingly
8. Click on Save 

Now,

1. Navigate to the Mass Data Maintenance work center 
2. Click on Export Materials link
3. Enter the Material ID as "ABC"
4. Click on Go
5. Navigate to the UOM Characteristics 
6. You will see the Quantity Type Characteristics for the updated Length, Width & Hight accordingly as shown
