3270967 - Learning Assessments for Content Packages

Symptom

After the admin changes the content configuration to "Assessment" the users are able to launch the assessment as expected, but after the admin set the content back to "Content" and reassigns the item, the users are still launching the assessment instead the content selected.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the learning administration > Content > Content Package > Content tab > Edit button >
  2. Select the radio button for "Assessments" > Select the exam > click "Apply changes" >
  3. Go to learning activities > Items > Select an item > "Online Content" tab > Add the content object from step 1 >
  4. Note it is showing the assessment and the users will launch the exam when starting the course.

Reverting the changes:

  1. Go to the learning administration > Content > Content Package > Content tab > Edit button >
  2. Select the radio button for "Content" > Click "Apply changes" >
  3. Go to learning activities > Items > Select the item > Reassign it to the users
  4. When the users launch the item, they are still launching the assessment


Cause

It is expected behavior, the same behavior is seen when a content object in the package is swapped with a different one (instead of an assessment). 

Resolution

To update the changes performed, the administrator should remove the content object from the item and re-add it, therefore a pop-up will be displayed asking to reassign the users and they may be able to launch the course content again:

  1. Go to learning activities > Items > Select an item > "Online Content" tab > Remove the current content package >
  2. Click on the arrow beside "Add Content Object" and select "Add Content Package" >
  3. Select the same package removed on the first step >
  4. Click on the "Online Content Settings" gear icon >
  5. Go to the Launch tab and make sure "Content is available for launch (available for users)" is checked >
  6. Click "OK" and "Apply Changes" >
  7. Reassign the course to the users >
  8. Note that the course now will be updated.
