3272025 - Error when adding email address with a type that already exists - Employee Central

Symptom

When adding a new email with the same type of one that already exists (personal or business, for example), an error message appears.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  • Go to Employee Profile;
  • Edit Contact Information;
  • Add a new email address with the same type of one that already exists;
  • Save.

An error message will show.

  • If the CS option "Enable Centralized Services for Contact Information to save changes on Editing UI" is enabled, the message will be: "Make sure that records have different Email Type values. Currently, more than one record has Personal selected."

  • If the CS option "Enable Centralized Services for Contact Information to save changes on Editing UI" is disabled, the message will be: "More than one record cannot be added for same Email Information Personal."

Note: The message may be written differently depending to the version of your instance.

Cause

This is expected behavior.

Resolution

It is not possible to have more than one email address with the same Email Address Type. As a workaround you can create custom types as per your business requirements.
