3272758 - All About New Communication Scenario for REST Services in SAP Business ByDesign

With SAP Business Bydesign 2211 release, A new communication scenario for REST services is now available in SAP Business ByDesign. This enables you to create a communication setup for the REST services from the Communication Arrangements view, for technical user-based communication.

SAP Business bydesign

The new communication Scenario is available when you create a New Communication Arrangment using below steps,

1. Go to Application and User Management work center
2. Communication Arrangments view
3. Click New button
4. Search and select the Communication Scenario "Rest Services"
5. In the next step select a system instance
6. In 'Define Technical data' you can find the Rest Services.
7. Select 'Assigned" check box and move on to next steps
8. Finsh the setup

Now, the communication arrangment is ready to use.

In case, if there is no Rest Services then there is no Rest Services are available in the system. In SAP Business bydesign, one of the Rest Service which is available is SCIM. Below are the steps to enable from Scoping

1. Go to Business Configuration work center
2. Select Implementation projects view
3. Click Edit Project Scope
4. Go to Questions
5. Expand Built-in Services and Support
6. Expand System Management
7. Highlight User and access management
8. Under section SCIM Enablement, you find the Question - Do you want to enable SAP Business ByDesign as the System for Cross-domain Identity Management (SCIM 2.0) service provider?
9. Check the question and complete the Scoping
10. Now, you can find the SCIM Rest Service in Communication Arrangment for assignment

To know about SCIM integration; Click the Download button in the Communication Arrangment in the screen where you find the SCIM service for assignment

Additional Information:

• Just like how you create communication arrangements to consume OData services using the scenario OData Integration, this is another scenario, similar to it, to expose the REST Services. Using this, you can create communication arrangements to enable the consumption of the available REST Services.
• The newly introduced scenario is similar to the "OData Services for Business Objects" scenario. This one is to consume the OData services. With the new scenario "REST Services" we have introduced a harmonized way to to create communication setup to consume the REST Services.
