3273120 - Conflicts in Business Configuration Scoping Questions under Project Resource Management

Symptom

There are conflicts shown in the Business Configuration scoping phase under Project Management → Project Planning and Execution → Project Resource Management for the two questions:

  • "Do you want to use Resource Availability Search based on Commitment Quantity of the employee from the Project - Team and Staffing Tab?" (deselected)
  • "Do you want to use Resource Availability Search based on planned work specified at the task level of a project?" (selected)

and you cannot proceed to the step 5 („Review“) in the guided activity.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to the view Implementation Projects and choose a project.
  3. Click the Edit Project Scope button.
  4. Add any countries/regions in step 1.
  5. Proceed to step 3.
  6. Select the following scoping elements
    • Service → Product and Service Portfolio for Service and Repair
    • Project Management → Project Planning and Execution
    • Project Management → Project Planning and Execution → Time Recording
  7. Proceed to step 4.
  8. Show Elements with Conflicts.
  9. The above mentioned two conflicts are shown.

Cause

Actually, there are no conflicts. But the Scoping Engine wrongly detects conflicts dependent on the order of the scoping and the selection of the Type of Business.

Resolution

  1. In the step 4 of the scoping show the Elements with Conflicts and select Project Management → Project Planning and Execution → Project Resource Management
  2. Select the first question with a conflict ("Do you want to use Resource Availability Search based on Commitment Quantity of the employee from the Project - Team and Staffing Tab?"). The second question will be deselected by the system.
  3. Select the second question with a conflict ("Do you want to use Resource Availability Search based on planned work specified at the task level of a project?"). The first question will be deselected by the system.
