If there is some connection issue (connection loss, connection hang) on Oracle TCP/IP, IPC can be used as alternative connection to bypass Oracle TCP/IP.
Prerequisites for IPC:
1. Application server instance and Oracle reside on the same host
2. Oracle listener is configured to listen on an IPC endpoint
3. Application server instance specifies IPC as types of connection with Oracle.
