3276242 - When editing position field is cleared out - Employee Central

Symptom

When inserting a new position record field is getting cleared out with no reason.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • Position Management
  • Metadata Framework

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Manage Position/Manage Data
  2. Select a Position
  3. Click to Insert a new record

Result: Field will be cleared out.

This just happens in following conditions:

  1. Field been cleared is a Generic object (e.g. Cost Center, Department and etc).
  2. Field object definitions has an association with another generic object AND also is a searchable field.
  3. The field has more than 1 parent association in manage data.

Cause

Currently expected behavior from the system.

Resolution

This is currently a limitation and engineering is aware. There is an open enhancement for this scenario, please ask your CSM to track the progress in following internal case:
