3277914 - Error "The file format and extension don't match" or the AO report is opening in a different application

When opening a file with extension "sapaox", one of the following symptoms occur:

1. Error "The file format and extension of FILENAME.sapaox don't match".
2. The file is opened in a different application (e.g. PDF reader, MS Word, etc) and not in Analysis for Office/Excel.

SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

1. Try to open a fila with extension "sapaox";
2. Confirm one of the symptoms above.

BiOfficeLauncher is not selected as default application to open files with extension sapaox.

Make sure BiOfficeLauncher is selected as default application to open files with extension sapaox, by following one of the options below:

OPTION 1

Go to Windows -> Settings -> "Choose default apps by file type" as shown in screenshot below:

OPTION 2

1. Right click on the file with extension "sapaox"
2. Click on "Open with..."
3. Make sure the option "Always use this app to open .sapaox files" is selected
4. Click on "More apps"
5. Click on "Look for another app on this PC"
6. Browse for the "BiOfficeLauncher.exe" on the PC which should be available under the default path of "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Office AddIn\BiOfficeLauncher.exe" or "C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\Office AddIn\BiOfficeLauncher.exe"
7. Click on "Open"
