3279305 - rs_init failed with SQL Server message: msg 18382 Database 'DBNAME' is already configured to use Replication Agent - SRS

Symptom

  • rs_init fails to add a database to a Replication Server with the following error message :

            SQL Server message: msg 18382, level 16, state 1
            WARNING: "Database 'DBNAME' is already configured to use Replication Agent. Request to enable Replication Agent has been ignored."
            Unable to execute query 'exec sp_config_rep_agent "DBNAME", enable,"RS_NAMe", "RS_ra_NAME", "***"' against server 'ASENAME'.
            Task failed: configure the Replication Agent. Terminating configuration.
            Configuration failed.
