Symptom

  • Problem started days before with following error and stack trace:
    Error: 707, Severity: 20, State: 1
    server  System error detected during attempt to free memory at address 0x1e1c1d1234. Please consult the ASE error log for more details.

  • Three days later another stack trace occurred:
    Current process (0x1d7f11ac) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
    kernel  Current Process is running on Engine 20
    kernel  Address 0x0x00007fdfeccb9e66 ((null)+0xeccb9e66), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x0x0000001e1c1d1234)

  • The above two errors happened on the same failing address: 1e1c1d1234 
  • The ASE server was NOT rebooted between the 2 above errors
