Symptom
You created a follow up document such as e.g. a Sales Quote from an Opportunity and the text in the Notes of the Opportunity is taken over in the follow up document in the Customer Information of the Notes in the General tab.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the New Business work center.
- Select the Opportunity List view.
- Open Opportunity ABC (ABC represents the ID of the Opportunity).
- In the General tab you can see that there are Notes maintained.
- Navigate to the Document Flow.
- Open the document e.g. Sales Quote that was created as a follow up document from the Opportunity.
- In the General tab under the Notes section you can see that the Notes from the Opportunity are taken over in the Customer Information.
Cause
The Notes in the Opportunity are of type Additional External Comment and are therefore taken over in a follow up document such as a Sales Quote in the Customer Information under the Notes section in the General tab.
This has been introduced with Release 2211
The additional customer information maintained in the Notes section of the leads and opportunities documents, is now also reflected in the follow-up sales quote documents.
Please note that the logic was designed so that the transactional note should get preference over the master data note.
Resolution
This is the expected system behaviour.
There is currently no possibility to add internal notes to an opportunity. However, you can create an extension field for internal comments in the Opportunity to meet your requirement.
