3281556 - "To create a record for this date you need to permanently delete the empty record first." Error After Delimiting Job Relationships

Symptom

After delimiting Job Relationships and trying to insert a new record to Job Relationship block, you get the following error:

"To create a record for this date you need to permanently delete the empty record first."

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

Sample scenario:

  1. There is only one relationship in Job Relationships portlet;

  2. You choose to delimit this record via import;

  3. When navigating to Job Relationships block this is what you see;

  4. When trying to insert a new record, an error is displayed;

Cause

As per Engineering Team's assessment, this is expected behavior.

When the previous record is empty, system does not allow adding a new one.

Resolution

In order to be able to create a new record the empty record should be deleted first.

So, in the sample scenario, the record from June 1st should be deleted in order to manually create a new one.

You can also consider preparing an import file with both records, delimit and the new one.
