Symptom

  • Backups failing with below errors in ASE Backup Server log:

    Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='<sid>syb::SYB_<SID>::000': Vendor application name=Data Protector A.10.03, Library version=221, API routine=syb_write(), Message=[Major] From: xxxx "<SID>"  Time: 12/20/22 11:21:03   Cannot write to RSM (IPC Invalid Handle Number)  
    Backup Server: 4.125.1.1: Archive API information for device='<sid>syb::SYB_<SID>::000': Vendor application name=Data Protector A.10.03, Library version=221, Message=[Critical] From: OB2BAR@mobp "MOS"  Time: 12/20/22 11:21:03 ABORT_ON_CLOSE received. Aborting .

    Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='<sid>syb::SYB_<SID>::000': Vendor application name=Data Protector A.10.03, Library version=221, API routine=syb_write(), Message=[Major] From: xxxx "<SID>"  Time: 12/20/22 11:20:33     Aborting connection to BSM. Abort code -2. 
    Backup Server: 6.31.2.2: Volume rejected.
    Backup Server: 1.14.2.2: Unrecoverable I/O or volume error.  This DUMP or LOAD session must exit

  • A dump database or dump tran direct to a file system device, and not using HP Data Protector, is working from ISQL.
