3288101 - Phasing out Privacy Policy Configuration

Symptom

The ability to replace the standard SAP Privacy Statement with either a custom privacy statement or not privacy statement is being phased out. As of the 2302 release, customers not already using one of these options can no longer choose to do so. Customers who have replaced the standard SAP Privacy Statement can continue using their selected option until it is removed in a future release.

Background: In May 2018, SAP introduced two privacy policy display options, in addition to the default option (1) "SAP Ariba Privacy Statement," to allow Ariba Network customers to either display (2) a “Custom Privacy Statement”, or (3) “No Privacy Statement," to their users (non-administrator account users), in the Ariba Network user interface. Privacy policy display options (2) and (3) were intended to be in addition to the default of displaying the “SAP Ariba Privacy Statement”.  However, when SAP recently published the SAP Business Network Privacy Statement as an updated version of the SAP Ariba Privacy Statement, we discovered that the selection of either option (2) or (3) would erroneously block the visibility of (1), the SAP Business Network Privacy Statement. In order to ensure the SAP Business Network Privacy Statement is again visible to all users, display options (2) and (3) will be removed.

We will inform you once the date of removal is confirmed

Please note:

  • If you currently use privacy policy display options (2) or (3), you may continue to do so until such options are removed. However, new implementation of options (2) and (3) is blocked as of the 2302 release. Further, if you revert the privacy policy display option to the default (1) and save that change, options (2) and (3) will thereafter not be available to your account.

  • The above-described changes only affect non-administrator users of SAP Business Network accounts that currently have privacy policy display options (2) or (3).

  • Along with removing privacy policy display options (2) and (3), SAP will simplify the presentation of the consent and SAP Business Network Privacy Statement to non-administrator users.

  • NO action is required for SAP Business Network customers currently using options (2) or (3); after these additional display options have been removed, at next login, non-administrator users of your account will be presented with the SAP Business Network Privacy Statement and the related consent.

  • If you are currently using option (2), Custom Privacy Statement, your custom privacy statement will no longer be visible to your users via the SAP Business Network after the option is removed in a future release.

  • If you want to disable privacy policy display options (2) and (3) now, you may by simply changing back to the default option (1). Please log in to your SAP Business Network account and go to Company Profile > Privacy Statement and select (1) "SAP Ariba Privacy Statement."  At next login, your non-administrator users will be presented with the current SAP Business Network Privacy Statement if it had not previously been presented to them.

  • The purpose of this change is to ensure the visibility of the SAP Business Network Privacy Statement to all non-administrator users of the SAP Business Network to satisfy applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Going forward, each customer should present applicable Custom Privacy Statements in the manner they determine most effective and necessary outside of SAP Business Network solutions.
