3288104 - Unable to attach PDF to CMIS repositorires - Read error during PC upload: An error occurred when uploading to SAP Knowledge Provider

Symptom

When uploading PDF attachments to a document(e.g. sales orders, billing documents and others) which is using a CMIS repository as the storage, error "Read error during PC upload: An error occurred when uploading to SAP Knowledge Provider" comes out.

Will get below message if click on "More Info" button: "An error occurred when uploading to SAP Knowledge Provider".

Another kind of error message appears when uploading via the attachment service (CV ATTACHMENT API): "FILE_NAME.pdf: File is either corrupted or file format not supported for upload.". When checking the file against the main Virus Scan Interface profile (e.g. ZBASIC) via T-code VSCANTEST, the following message is seen: "/path_to_pdf/FILE_NAME.pdf", the scan engine blocked the active content due to the rule "TM_ACTIVE_CONTENT_SCRIPT_PDF (Active content is detected)".

Check the following possible causes:

  • The document may already be open in an external application.
In this case, close the application and try again.
  • The system was not able to access an external content server or an external archive."

This only happens with certain PDF documents. When trying to attach a different PDF, the upload works.
