3290264 - Tax Exemption Certificate for US is not working for Quotes

You find that the tax is being calculated in the quote (pricing tab) and displayed on the quote form, so the Tax Exemption Certificate apparently does not play any role for quotes.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Open Service Quote ABC (where ABC stands for service quote ID)
2. Navigate to Services And Spare Parts tab, Taxes sub tab
3. You can see Tax Code is 501 - Sales Tax - Standard Rate
4. The tax exemption can't be determined automatically
5. While in the follow up Service Order EFF (where EFG stands for service order ID)
6. The tax code is 509 - Exempt Sale for Resale

There is no need of tax exemption certificate in Service/Sales Quote. Because the Sales/Service quotes are pre sales documents and tax exemption certificate is mostly something used when we do actual sales. This is why there is no tax exemption certificate in Service/Sales Quote.

This is expected system behaviour.

When creating a follow up document for sales quote, i.e. sales order, the user need to check and adjust the order accordingly. You can always change the tax code and select the customer tax exemption certificate.

The same behavior has been also confirmed for Italy.
