3291530 - "CHKPOINT WRKR" thread hang when performing "DUMP TRANSACTION" - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • Checkpoint worker processes began hanging when dumping a transaction log. This process causing blocking of other processes. 
  • The transaction log starts to filling up and the ASE needs to reboot to clear the issue.
  • sp_who show the processes in lock sleep and blocked by another checkpoint worker thread:

       0    45 lock sleep NULL    NULL        NULL                 47 db      tempdb           CHKPOINT WRKR    0 syb_default_pool
       0    46 lock sleep NULL    NULL        NULL                 47 db      tempdb           CHKPOINT WRKR    0 syb_default_pool

       0    48 lock sleep NULL    NULL        NULL                 47 db      tempdb           CHKPOINT WRKR    0 syb_default_pool
