3291563 - Getting "Connection Broken" when connecting an ABAP system to SAP Concur

Symptom

There is an HTTP (type G) destination on an ABAP based system that points to an SAP Concur server (e.g., eu1.concursolutions.com).

A "connection test" on the destination returns a 500 response with "Connection broken".

The ICM trace file logs the following lines:

*** ERROR => h2: (c:23/24) - Stream Error 'PROTOCOL_ERROR' (1) on stream 1: "Message contains an invalid header value '<https://eu1.concursolutions.com[invalid / oriental characters here]"

SAP is running with kernel 777 patch level higher than 300. Patch level 523 is known to present the issue.
