3293563 - Mass purge employee data from inactive employees gives error message "ECDataUserObjectType EC data user purge failed. Please check server log or create a ticket.".

Symptom

While trying to mass purge employee data from inactive employees, customer gets this error message "ECDataUserObjectType EC data user purge failed. Please check server log or create a ticket.".

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors HXM Core

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log onto affected system with provided support access. 
  2. Go to Data Retention Management.
  3. Create a new purge.
  4. Select 'Purge Inactive User'
  5. Select users/provide upload file of users to be purged. 
  6. Submit purge. 
  7. Go to Purge Request Monitor.
  8. Approve the purge. 
  9. Go to Purge Progress & Results.
  10. Download the report and see the error: "ECDataUserObjectType EC data user purge failed. Please check server log or create a ticket." for the failed users. 

Cause

Enable Document Management Service was enabled in provisioning when third party storage was not being used causing issues with the purge. 

Resolution

Disabled Enable Document Management Service in provisioning ---> Company settings.
