3294204 - DB2 INSPECT runs long. Any performance tuning available?

Symptom

As for the utility, INSPECT reads through all of the data base in a single process, and checks each and every page for consistency.  This just takes time.  The runtime consumed thereby heavily depends on the performance of the I/O subsystem, and on the amount of workload that is competing for available resources.

Needless to say that INSPECT itself has impact on performance of the rest of the environment.  Note that all data needs to go through the bufferpool.  It therefore is a good idea to have this separated from productive work.

In summary, INSPECT performance is susceptible i/o subsystem speed and system load.
