3294719 - saptempdb full Error 1105 - SAP ASE for BS

Symptom

  • Database saptempdb has been extended from 25GB to 50GB but still reported error 1105:
    Error: 1105, Severity: 17, State: 3
    Can't allocate space for object 'temp worktable' in database 'saptempdb' because 'system' segment is full/has no free extents. If you ran out of space in syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise, use ALTER DATABASE to increase the size of the segment.
  • There is long ASE running task "update index statistics <SID>.SAPSR3.[/SAPAPO/TS_LOCKC]..." using enormous saptempdb space. i.e 2539844 pages, 38.75GB.
  • The table [/SAPAPO/TS_LOCKC] is huge containing 544023146 rows with size of 68GB:
