Symptom
The following Excel Macro settings are suggested to use with SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office.
Environment
SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office
Resolution
The Excel Macro settings can be accessed through the following steps:
- File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings
The suggested Excel macro setting for using SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office is as below:
The security option concerning Excel 4.0 macros can either be set in the Trust Center dialog of Excel ("Enable Excel 4.0 macros when VBA macros are enabled") or using the registry key (e.g. as part of a group policy).
With this new security feature Microsoft Excel has introduced an inconsistent behaviour:
- If the old Excel 4.0 macros was desabled via the Trust Center dialog the AO macros are not blocked and everything is running fine.
- But if the old Excel 4.0 macros was disabled via the registry key (e.g. as part of a group policy), Excel also blocks the AO macros - although AO does not use this old Excel 4.0 macro technology.
This is known regression issue of Microsoft Excel which has been fixed in version > 2308.
Therefore please have a look at the overview of different Office channels: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-microsoft365-apps-by-date and get a newer version > 2308.
