Symptom

  • database SID has run out of space on data segment 
  • a new data device is created 
  • when altering the database onto the new device, error 806 is encountered terminating the command 
  • The same error occurs on the same page number when trying to alter the database by a smaller size
Error: 806, Severity: 21, State: 1
Could not find virtual page for logical page xxxxxxxx in database 'dbname'.
