You are unable to perform the Manual Posting - Partial Transfer of Individual Material due to the error "Posting not possible; acq. cost of indiv. mat. less than transf. amnt".

However, you check the net book value of this asset and find that it is higher than the amount entered.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
2. Under Fixed Assets select Fixed Assets View.
3. Select the Asset > Manual Posting > Partial Transfer of Individual Material.
4. Relating to: 1 - Current Year.
5. Fill all mandatory fields and click post.

On the entered posting date, relating to the current year, the book value of the asset is lower than what is to be transferred whereas the net book value of the asset was higher than the amount to be transferred in previous years.

For instance if you have selected a posting date of DDMMYY in the current year, you need to check on this particular date what is the net value of the asset in the current year. You can follow the steps below to verify the postings with the Fixed Assets – Line Items report.

1. Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
2. Reports > Lists > Fixed Assets - Line Items.
3. Fill the required details for your source assets and click Go.
4. Filters only the journal entries of the current year.
5. With this you can see the acquisition costs posted in the current fiscal year.
6. This is the maximum amount that can be transferred in the current year.

This is standard system behaviour.

If the net book value of the fixed asset in previous years was higher than the value to be transferred you can choose the option Relating to: 2 – Previous Year’.

To verify the net book value in previous years check the fixed assets – line items report. Exclude all postings in the current year. This way, you only see the acquisition cost posted in previous years. This is the maximum amount that can be transferred relating to previous years.
