3296531 - A Service Order is Saved with Wrong Value in the Incident Category field

Symptom

When a wrong value is assigned to the Incident Category field of a service order, the document can still be saved.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Service Orders work center.
  2. Select New Service Order in the Common Tasks.
  3. Assign Account ABC (ABC represents the Account ID).
  4. In the General tab, select sub tab Main Information.
  5. In the Incident Category field type 123 (123 represents the first numbers of the  Incident Category value)
  6. The system will load the options matching the typed in numbers.
  7. Do not choose any option and press Enter.

The error message 'Incident category 123 not valid' will appear.

Cause

When you assign the value 123 to the field Incident Category the system will not trigger an error since it is a behaviour that only part of the value can be typed in so the system can load more options that initiate with said value, in this case 123.

This field will not prevent the document of being saved if it is wrongly assigned.

Resolution

This is the system behaviour, when assigning a value to the Incident Category field select the right option loaded by the system and press Enter to confirm the error message 'Incident category XXX not valid' will not appear.
