Symptom

  • The following kernel messages appear in the ASE log :

    kernel  SIGSEGV is caught by VEH_Optimize()
    kernel  Return VXACTION_CONTINUE from VEH_Optimize()

  • On systems running SAP NetWeaver-based applications, on rare occasions, these messages are accompanied by short dumps citing ASE error SQL341 on the application-side

    ST22 dump:
    What happened?
        Database error text: "SQL message: [ASE Error SQL341]Internal error: SIGSEGV
         happened, please refer this issue to SAP Technical Support."
