3299070 - Incorrect/Duplicate G/L Account Information When Exporting to Excel

You have queried for your G/L Accounts in the system and exported them to Excel. However, the G/L Account description is showing duplicated and truncated.

SAP Business ByDesign.

1. Go to General Ledger work center.
2. Go to General Ledger Accounts view.
3. In the advanced search, give the desired company and set of books.
4. Run the search.
5. Export the G/L Account to Excel.
6. Open the Excel file.

You see that G/L Accounts with comma "," in the description will get a duplicate and truncated description in the exported file.

For example:

G/L Account "111111 - This is the Description, and this is also part of description" is exported as "111111 - This is the Description, 111111 - This is the Description, and this is also part of description".

This happens due to the comma "," being used in the G/L Account description. On exporting functions, the comma "," is used as a separator for multiple values of a single cell. Adding comma "," inside a description considers  it as multiple value and resulting in such repetition.

This is a current system definition and removing it could would break other functionalities and use cases where multiple values are exported and separated by ",".

 To avoid this repetition, you may either remove the comma or use a different special character for this purpose.
