3299719 - isql -S'hostname portnumber' cannot connect to the ASE on Windows - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • On Windows command prompt, when you run isql command with -S'hostname portnumber' or -S'hostname:portnumber' to connect your ASE, you will see the following error even if the host name and port number are correct.

C:\>isql -Usa -Ppassword -S'mytesthost 5000'
CT-LIBRARY error:
        ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: Requested server name not found.

  • The following error message could be seen if you use LDAP or SSL with Common Name (CN) :
    • LDAP driver failed to find the entry.
    • Failed to install network filter
