Symptom
After exporting Opportunities to Microsoft Excel, the Unit of Mearure (UoM) displayed on the UI is different to that on the Excel.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
Prerequisites:
- You created custom fields that contain a unit of measure and added this to your Opportunity OWL.
- You expect the uom's description to be exported to MS Excel, however, you find the symbol (as maintained in the Business Configuration Fine Tuning activity) to be exported, instead.
- Navigate to the Sales Work Centre
- Go to the Opportunity view
- Select More > Export to Excel > select language etc. > download.
Cause
In the Business Configuration Fine Tuning Activity "Quantities and Units of Measure" you can see that each unit of measure (uom) contains three parts: the code, the symbol and a description/ value.
While the system allows for Code and value (description) to be displayed in the UI for certain fields, such as those that contain a uom, the Excel will always pull the Symbol for uom fields.
Resolution
This is expected behaviour
