3302364 - Pay Component insertion order is not being respected - Employee Central

Symptom

Order of the Recurring Pay Components gets lost once a workflow is triggered. This happens both with Centralized Services and without.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to People Profile > Compensation Information;
  2. Click on pencil button;
  3. Select an effective date;
  4. Insert 2 Pay Components under “Compensation”;
  5. Add two Pay Components > Save;
  6. Perform the same process again;
  7. Change the insertion order > Save;
  8. See the insertion order is not respected.

Cause

The customer is using the MSS UI to enter Recurring Pay Components in a certain order. If no workflow is active, this works perfectly but as soon as a workflow is triggered, the Pay Components are shuffled.

Resolution

It is a known issue that the order of the Recurring Pay Components is not always maintained. The workflow coding does not maintain the order (as this takes extra effort) and processs the Pay Components in an arbitrary order even though the customer wants them to be in a specific order. This is apparently a longstanding limitation even with legacy coding.

A comprehensive solution will come with a new sorting feature.

Workaround:

Insert the Pay Components through History Button (where the workflow won't trigger).
