3303648 - Unexpected slow performance of queries against HCPRs involving OpenODS views

Symptom

When running queries against HCPRs created on top of OpenODS views, the query runtime is worse than expected. Then OpenODS view has been built based on a virtual table via HANA SDA according to transaction RSDODSVIEW.

  1. HANA is currently waiting on the network for a statement executed via ODBC. This is indicated by the corresponding HANA thread with a call stack similar to:

    NonBlockingSocket::doPoll
    NonBlockingSocket::poll
    Network::SimpleClientSocket::receive
    SQLDBC::SocketCommunication::receiveBuffer
    SQLDBC::SocketCommunication::receiveHeader
    SQLDBC::SocketCommunication::receive
    (...)
    federation::OdmService::doOdbc
    federation::OdmInternalService::do_odbc
    (...)

  2. The HANA view M_REMOTE_STATEMENTS shows that a remote statement against the configured ODBC data source is currently executed.
  3. The problem can be replicated by executing the remote statement in the BW system with representative filters against just the virtual table as well.
