3303899 - Troubleshooting guide for planning issues in SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office

Symptom

This document provides some guidance on how to troubleshoot planning issues using the SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office and how to find the correct SAP product area (component) to report product issues (if necessary).

  1. If the issue occurs when running a planning sequence from AO, check if it also occurs when running the planning sequence directly in RSPLAN transaction using exactly same filters.
    1. Is the issue reproducible in RSPLAN?
    • If yes, create a case by selecting component BW-PLA-IP (check section #5 in this document).
    • If not, create a case by selecting component BI-RA-AO-XLA (check section #6 in this document).

  1. If the issue occurs when saving planning data from AO, check if it also occurs when saving the planning data from RSRT transaction.

    1. Is the issue reproducible in RSRT?
    • If yes, create a case by selecting component BW-PLA-IP (check section #5 in this document).
    • If not, create a case by selecting component BI-RA-AO-XLA (check section #6 in this document).

  2. If there is a dump in ST22, check the error stack/details. Is it coming from classes starting with CL_RSPL*?

    • If yes, create a case by selecting component BW-PLA-IP (check section #5 in this document).
    • If not, create a case by selecting component BI-RA-AO-XLA (check section #6 in this document).

  3. If the issue is related to planning New Lines, make sure that everything below is in place:
    • Backend parameter BICS_NEW_LINE_CHECK_ENABLED set to X in RSADMIN table;
    • Use the latest version of Analysis for Office. To download it, visit the Support Content page Analysis Office Installation and Update and follow the instructions in section #2;
    • The setting UseNewLinesLegacyMode is set to FALSE (unchecked) in Analysis for Office - this is the default and the recommended value.

      Are all pre-requisites above in place but the issue remains?
    • If yes, create a case by selecting component BW-PLA-IP (check section #5 in this document).
  1. Information required when opening a case with SAP in component BW-PLA-IP:

    1. Attach to the case a document with complete step-by-step to reproduce the issue (directly in RSPLAN or RSRT when applicable);
    2. Attach to the case the ST22 dump if applicable;
    3. Make sure the two connections R/3 and SAP NI are open in the BW system;
    4. Provide the user and password information in the Customer Remote Logon Depot as mentioned in the KBA 1773689.

  2. Information required when opening a case with SAP in component BI-RA-AO-XLA:

    1. Is the issue reproducible in the latest version of Analysis for Office? To download it, visit the Support Content page Analysis Office Installation and Update and follow the instructions in section #2.
    2. Attach to the case the Analysis Office trace (recorded in the latest version) as described in SAP Note 2129389;
    3. Attach to the case a document with complete step-by-step to reproduce the issue;
    4. Make sure the two connections R/3 and SAP NI are open in the BW system;
    5. Provide the user and password information in the Customer Remote Logon Depot as mentioned in the KBA 1773689.
