3307765 - CMS could not be started up after version up My SQL to 8.0.28 on onwards

Symptom

When version MySQL up to 8.0.28+, may facing issue which noted in SAP note 3215377.
But even take action as solution, still facing error "Unable to connect to the CMS system database "HOSTNAME". Reason: MySQL Database: Clients newer than version 8.0.12 are not supported. (FWB 00090) ".
In this situation, CMS could not be started up, so no method to version up as solution noted in 2954921.

  • After in-place upgrade of MySQL (used as CMS DB) to the version 8.0.29:
    • Logon in Central Management Console (CMC) fails with the below error
      "Account information not recognized: Could not reach CMS xxxx:<CMsport>. The CMS on machine 'yyyy' was stopped due to a critical error. (FWM 20031)"
    • The following error appears in Central Configuration Manager (CCM) -> SIA properties -> Configuration tab:
      "Failed to retrieve cluster name from the database. Reason: SAP businessObjects BI Platform CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "<DBHost>". Reason: SSL connection error: unknown error number"

  • When trying to copy data to a newly created CMS (Central Management Server) DB in MySQL 8.0.29, the below error received:
    "SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform CMS: Unable to connect to the CMS system database "CMS_DB:DBHost:port". Reason SSL connection error: unknown error number (FWB 00090)."
  • Receive below error when installing SAP BI Platform fresh while pointing CMS DB to an existing MySQL 8.0.29 database
    "Error:
    The system cannot verify the database logon information. [INS00104]
    Would you like to correct it?"
  • Installation or upgrade with a Central Management Server database on MySQL 8 and a MySQL client library version above 8.0.12 fails with the error:
    Unable to connect to the CMS system database "HOSTNAME". Reason: MySQL Database: Clients newer than version 8.0.12 are not supported. (FWB 00090)
  • If the client library version is less than or equal to 8.0.12, the Central Management Server fails to start.
    • The following error occurs when navigating to Central Configuration Manager -> Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) Properties -> Configuration tab:
      Failed to retrieve cluster name from the database. Reason: The index info object with id 0 does not match the type of the index already in the database. The requested property type is long and the one in the database is invalid. The requested property size is 0 and the one in the database is 0.
    • In the default (Assert level) CMS logs, the below error may be seen:
      assert failure: (MySQLDatabase.cpp:497). (0 : no message).
